The IEEE 1588 protocol software enables simple, fast development of IEEE 1588 compliant devices. The IEEE 1588 protocol software developed by IXXAT has a modular structure, ensuring fast integration into the target system. The interfaces to the target platform, for access to the UDP/IP socket, are compiled in a separate adaptation layer (network interface). This considerably simplifies porting to the target system.

The software is completely independent of the operating system and can therefore also be used in applications without an operating system (superloops). The only condition is a multicast-compatible UDP/IP stack.
